"You know, Shinji, maybe I was right before," Asuka thought out loud. "How could that angel have changed everything? Maybe we were the ones changed, and maybe you really have always been a girl..."

Shinji looked at Asuka in horror. "No, that... that can't be true!"

Asuka turned and watched Shinji, her stare making him feel very uncomfortable. "Maybe you're right. I mean, why would you have a boy's name if you'd always been a girl? When I asked someone back at NERV, they just shrugged and said to ask your father. There must have been some sort of pulse that changed reality or something, and our connections to our evas must have protected us somehow..."

"Then how are we going to fix it?" Shinji asked.

"I don't know," Asuka replied honestly, "we'll have to think this through a bit more."
